Producer Price Index: Wholesale Inflation Hotter Than Expected In July
The producer price index (PPI) for final demand rose 0.9% month-over-month after a flat reading in June. Core PPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose 0.9% month-over-month after a flat reading in June. In July, the PPI for finished goods rose 0.5% month-over-month, up from 0.4% in June.
Wholesale prices surged in July, BLS says
The Federal Government put out a report today that concerns lenders and businesses worried about inflation, jobs and tariffs. The Producer Price Index rose sharply in the last month, and KTVU’s Tom Vacar joins us from a car dealership where tariffs guarantee higher prices.
