Strong winds and low humidity could facilitate the rapid spread of fires across six states on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

States across the central U.S. were under red flag warnings Friday as warm temperatures and high winds threatened to cause "extreme fire behavior."

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of the Chicago area Friday, with wind gusts upwards of 45 miles-per-hour possible.
