Officials said more than 850 people had been rescued, including some clinging to trees, after a sudden storm dumped more than a foot of rain in an area around the Guadalupe River.
The storms that battered the Hill Country for the last four days began to lighten up, although isolated pockets of heavy rain were still possible.
