Nationally, about 208 Black men per 100,000 died from cancer, as opposed to 179 per 100,000 white men, the study said. About 144 out of 100,000 Black women died from cancer, while the rate for white women was 131 out of 100,000.

Black men experienced the most significant relative decline in cancer deaths at nearly every age, compared to Black women and white people. This included a 65% to 67% decrease in deaths among those between 40 and 59 years of age.

According to the American Cancer Society, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in Black men and women after heart disease. And it accounts for 18% of all reported deaths in 2022.
