On Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. a tornado watch was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Thursday at 3 a.m. for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike and Russell counties.

With severe weather in the forecast Wednesday, much of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi remain under a tornado watch until 8 p.m.

This affects Baton Rouge and some counties in southwestern Mississippi. Parishes and counties along and east of I-55 are under an enhanced risk. According to the National Weather Service, a watch is used when the risk of hazardous weather has increased significantly,
