The Boston Celtics are moving on to the second round of the NBA Playoffs after closing out the Orlando Magic with a 120-89 Game 5 win at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Detroit defeated the New York Knicks 106-103 in Game 5 on Tuesday to stay alive in the Eastern Conference first round series. The victory means New York now holds a 3-2series lead and would need a win in Detroit on Thursday to close out.

The second round is scheduled to get underway from Monday, May 5, to Tuesday, May 6, according to the NBA. But those start dates could be moved up to Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, depending on when first-round series conclude. The NBA playoffs follow a bracket format and do not reseed teams after the first round.

The No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers swept the No. 8 seed Miami Heat on Monday, becoming the first team in the Eastern Conference to advance to the second round. The Detroit Pistons ' comeback to even their first-round series fell short Sunday, as the New York Knicks head back to Madison Square Garden with a chance to close it out Tuesday.

Indiana stunned Milwaukee in Game 5 of the first round Tuesday night, rallying from a 20-point deficit to win in overtime, 119-118.
