Starting Thursday, Erik and Lyle Menendez will take turns facing a California parole board that will decide whether the brothers should have a chance at freedom after spending more than three decades behind bars for the 1989 killings of their parents in their Beverly Hills home.

After more than 30 years in prison, Erik Menendez appeared before a parole board on Thursday in a continued bid for freedom after being convicted for the 1989 murder of his parents.

Thirty-six years after they gunned down their parents in their Beverly Hills home, Erik and Lyle Menendez are set to appear before a state parole board panel in separate hearings.
