Chicago legend and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose will see his jersey raised to the rafters of United Center when the Bulls honor him on Jan. 24, 2026, the team announced.

Almost a year has passed since Derrick Rose stepped away from the NBA for good. And now, just ahead of the 2026 season, the Chicago Bulls are making a move that’s got fans and fellow players feeling all kinds of emotions.

Rose was the No. 1 overall pick by his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls, in 2008, the same year he won Rookie of the Year. In 2011, he was named the youngest Most Valuable Player in NBA history after leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since Michael Jordan’s retirement in 1998.
