Kim Thayil says that even before Chris Cornell ‘s death in 2017, the members of Soundgarden would have conversations about the band being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Eight years on from the unexpected passing of Chris Cornell, Soundgarden’s Ben Shepherd has teased the release of an unreleased album of new material in a tribute post to his late bandmate.

Soundgarden, which was formed by Cornell in 1984, promptly disbanded. The remaining three members of the grunge band only reunited once in 2019 for a children’s hospital benefit concert.

the post reads. "On behalf of Chris and our family – thank you!!" Bandmate Thayil said Cornell would be "stoked" about Soundgarden's induction, according to a Billboard article posted on April 28.
