Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and New York Governor Kathy Hochul are hurling insults at each other over abortion case and extradition order.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul says she will reject the extradition request by Louisiana for a New York doctor charged with illegally providing abortion drugs to a mother who gave them to her minor daughter who reportedly wanted to have the baby.

Jeff Landry recently asked Kathy Hochul to extradite a doctor who was charged for providing abortion medication to a patient from his state. She refused.

The case against Dr. Margaret Carpenter appears to be the first instance of criminal charges against a doctor accused of prescribing abortion pills to a patient in another state.

In December, the state of Texas accused Dr. Maggie Carpenter, a family medicine doctor who practices in New York, of violating Texas law by providing abortion-inducing drugs to Texans via telehealth. The southern state bans abortion in almost all cases and also bans abortion pills from being prescribed through telemedicine.

Gov. Kathy Hochul reiterated her stance on reproductive freedom, after a New York doctor was indicted for prescribing abortion pills online to her patient in Louisiana.
