A sudden cloudburst wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, leaving at least four people dead and several others injured. The disaster struck Janglote village during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday,

Seven members of four families, including five children, lost their lives in two separate incidents of cloudburst and landslide in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Sunday, officials said.

A cloudburst has reportedly occurred in the forest area of Warnow in north Kashmir’s Lolab region. Initial reports suggest heavy water flow after rain in the area led to the incident. However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far.

Indian Railways (IR) has regulated the operations of several trains following a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, disrupted services along the Jammu–Pathankot rail line.

The cloudburst struck the Janglote area of Kathua district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Over 30 people are dead and several are injured after a cloudburst hit a remote mountain village in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. It triggered flash floods, which swept away a langar and structures at Chashoti village.

The officials said the cloudburst hit Jod Ghati in Rajbagh area of the district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, snapping access to the village and causing some damage to land and property.

In a post shared on X by the Office of Chief Minister, Abdullah said the assistance is aimed at providing immediate relief and supporting the affected families in rebuilding their lives.
