California Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy will hear and vote on the bill on Wednesday. Opponents criticize bill sponsor because of her previous ties to Southern California Edison.
Both Edison International and Southern California Edison, as well as PG&E, have had their credit ratings downgraded as a result of the wildfires. Moody’s has yet to respond since legislation passed.
The bill’s author, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon, D-Whittier, is a former executive at Southern California Edison and its parent company, Edison International.
