3D shapes are described by their faces, edges and vertices. The faces can be the same shape or different, and a 3D shape could have a curved surface as well as flat faces.
Suitable for: Teaching KS1 Maths, focusing on geometry including 2D and 3D shapes, position and movement, angles, coordinates and maps.
One challenge to overcome to enable the teaching of these skills is how to assess spatial visualization ability at lower grade levels.
