WASHINGTON (AP) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is visiting the White House on Thursday to try to convince President Donald Trump that a lasting peace in Ukraine will endure only if Kyiv and European leaders are at the table as negotiations move forward with Moscow.

But Donald Trump has already suggested he is reluctant to do this. Speaking hours before Sir Keir was due to arrive in Washington, the US President said: "I'm not going to make security guarantees beyond very much," Trump told reporters as he hosted his first cabinet meeting of his second term.

While meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said he backed a key provision of the NATO alliance that requires members to come to the defense of another if attacked.
