Seattle was ranked as the second-most popular domestic travel destination for the Fourth of July holiday this year, according to AAA. KIRO 7 asked visitors at Pike Place Market what brought them to Seattle. “We love to do hiking,” said Muhammad Eiman, who drove to meet friends from San Francisco. “We are also planning to go to Mount Baker.”

In Seattle, the marquee event is Seafair’s all-day Fourth of July festival at Lake Union, where crowds will pack both Gas Works Park and Lake Union Park.

AAA Travel expects a record high of approximately 72.2 million people traveling at least 50 miles from home over the Fourth of July weekend.
