A southwest suburban school district was set to be on e-learning for a second day Tuesday after vandals targeted its bus fleet at a yard in Plainfield. The buses catalytic converters on the buses were stolen in the early morning hours Monday.

A local school district was forced to switch to e-learning Monday after a vandalism spree left more than 80% of its school buses inoperable. According to officials with Troy 30-C School District in suburban Joliet,

C, which includes schools in Joliet, Plainfield, and Shorewood, emailed families on Monday to share that "over 90% of our bus fleet had fallen victim to vandalism, resulting in the theft of catalytic converters.

Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C said they expect all school buses to be fixed by Tuesday evening, but with a winter storm expected on Wednesday, they have yet to announce if in-person classes will resume.

Catalytic converters were stolen from 30 buses in the school district, police said, leaving the majority of the fleet "inoperable."
