When GMC introduced the latest version of the Sierra, the brand touted the wider and bolder grille. Now, more than 70,000 examples of the truck are at the center of a new recall — because a part of that grille might just fly off at random.

More than 70,000 GMC Sierra 1500s have been recalled because of an issue with the vehicle’s grille. The attachments that hold the grill deflectors in place can break and allow the grille to fall off, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The recall affects 70,768 vehicles from the 2022 model year.

General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 70,000 cars due to faulty hood molding that may cause the front grille of the vehicles to detach, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The upper grille section on 70,000 Sierra 1500s could detach without warning. General Motors has a small problem with grilles on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck. The grille deflector—the top part of the grille surround—can unexpectedly detach.

The recall impacts the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 and the government says the attachments that hold the front upper grille deflector in place may break over time. If all eight become br
