Kerr County, Texas and national search and rescue operations will continue Monday around the Guadalupe River, where families wait for news of their loved ones.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been activated in Texas, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The activation comes in the wake of President Trump on Sunday signing a disaster declaration for hard-hit Kerr County,

At least 82 people are dead and at least 41 more are missing after devastating flash floods slammed Texas Hill Country, with water rescues taking place along the Guadalupe River, which rose rapidly early Friday morning to the height of a two-story building.

The death toll after flash flooding hit part of Texas has now reached 100. Karen Hua from CBS News gives a recap of the search efforts and questions as to whether those in the flood zone knew about the National Weather Service alerts.

Larry Leitha, the Kerr County Sheriff in Texas Hill Country, the epicenter of the catastrophic flooding in Texas, said on Sunday (July 6) that the death toll in Kerr County had reached 59, including the 21 children.
