The Derby Fire grew significantly overnight according to fire officials. The fire near Dotsero has burned 839 acres and has not been contained yet. Evacuations for residents near the fire were ordered on the morning of August 20th, 2025. More information on the evacuations can be found here.
The two fires are called the Derby Fire, located in Eagle County near Garfield County, and the La Plata Fire, located in Chaffee and Lake counties in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests.
