Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD said on Tuesday it had raised $5.59 billion in a primary share sale that was increased in size, making it the largest of its kind in Hong Kong in four years.

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD Co. has raised HK$43.5 billion ($5.6 billion) after selling 10% more shares than planned, according to people familiar with the matter, in Hong Kong’s biggest share sale in nearly four years.

China’s leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD plans to place 129,800,000 new shares on the Hong Kong stock market, as it looks to raise HKD43.5 billion (US$5.6 billion) to fund new product development and overseas expansion, according to an announcement by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
